Known as the "Greatest Spectacle in Racing", the Indy 500 humbly began in 1911. In The Indianapolis 500: Inside the Greatest Spectacle in Racing, speedway tour guide and racing afficionado James Craig Reinhardt shares what makes the legendary racetrack special. He reveals the speedway's unbelievable history, fast-flying action, notorious moments, and its secrets, including facts about the beginning of the brickyard, why the drivers kiss the finish line, how milk became the drink of choice, and much more. The perfect gift for the veteran or rookie, The Indianapolis 500 is a must-have for all race fans.
"The Indianapolis 500: Inside the Greatest Spectacle in Racing" Reviews
This is a Goodreads win review. I loved this book so much. The author is a tour guide at the Motor Speedway. I had no idea that it was so old. the book talks about how it started, the men that started it, why it is named the Brickyard. They have a museum on the premises and you can take a bus tour of the whole thing. I grew up in the 6o,s when it was only on the radio. I remember A.J. Foyt, Parnelli Jones, Bobby Unser, Mario Andretti, Al Unser, and the drivers from those years. If you want to read about this, read this book.
