The story-line...not bad. The terminology for body-parts....oy! I could only laugh because no one seriously refers to their lady-parts as a "Venus mound". Ever. Even if she's 8 years old...this woman is 40!! Bahahahahahahahahahahaha!!! Okay, okay, for real, review coming soon. I am going to now read this from Alexandre's POV. I know a Frenchman is not going to call his parts anything crazy...I hope! :-)
**FULL REVIEW**
“My dream is to run through lavender fields, taste the sun on my skin, and be loved forever and ever by this man’s side; this man who has seduced me with his quirky sense of humor, with sex, and now his home-made food, and hints of what could be in the future.”
A girl can dream…
A woman needs to make things happen. Pearl Robinson; a woman who is solely focused on her career, being that is the only thing she has these days. Middle-aged, divorced, and with no hope for the future of her love-life, but promising as a producer for independent films; it seems Pearl’s life is destined to be a lonely one.
That is, until she accidentally meets the man of her dreams. Wait? He’s fifteen years her junior, incredibly handsome, is part of a huge Social Media enterprise, and French! Pearl doesn’t know what hits her when this man approaches her in the coffee shop not even an hour after she misses him (for a business meeting) at a local IT conference. Fate has better plans for Pearl and Alexandre than just a business encounter.
Alexandre is a different breed of man. He has lived more in his short 25 years than most men and women have, life experiences starting at a very young age, and hard-times making him into the man he is now. He has an appreciation for women, seasoned women; women who have lived…not a girl who does nothing but hang on his every word. Pearl is that woman, and what’s more, she’s American. The American woman who will change Alexandre in ways he never realized.
Oh, what a ride they are in for!
“What about French women? Do you see a difference there?”…He ponders this. “Not so much the women themselves, but people’s attitudes towards them. In America, youth is worshipped. In France we love WOMEN. Girls are for boys. Women are for men. At least, I speak for myself. I am attracted to women, not girls.”
I won’t tell you there isn’t a complication in this dynamic between a young man and older woman…but this story just works. Alexandre and Pearl share a connection despite outside influences and obstacles. Aside from the very comical names used for Pearl’s “lady-parts”, I enjoyed the story. I am looking forward to finding out the rest of the story…Alexandre is a prideful, strong, Frenchman. Pearl is a beautiful, insecure, American woman. Wondering if they can really get past all that stands in their way.

At first I wasn't sure if I would like this novel because I suspected it might be a 50 Shades copy. How wrong I was! Yes, it is also erotic but so tastefully done and it is a really beautiful love story which held my attention from the first page until the last. I could not put this book down!
Although there are two more books in the trilogy (yet to come out)this novel is complete in itself - Arianne Richmonde does not use the cheap trick of chopping off the ending with a cliffhanger. But you want to continue on the journey knowing more about Pearl and Alexandre, that's for sure. I will definitely buy the next two books.
It was really refreshing to read something with a new premise and from a different angle - a younger man and a woman who is fifteen years older. So many moms loved Fifty Shades even though the heroine was only twenty-one and young enough to be their daughter! Likewise, Forty Shades of Pearl is a love story that can be enjoyed by anyone. There is an intensity to the relationship which makes you really identify with the characters. Also, a good dose of suspense and a few twists and turns which keep you turning pages.
The descriptions are beautiful, too. (Some of it takes place in France.) There are so many evocative passages which makes this a novel that can be appreciated for so much more than just hot, erotic scenes. The writing is first-rate. The dialogue is fluid and fascinating particularly when the characters are talking about the differences between French and American culture. (Alexandre is French).
A huge number of contemporary romance books out there right now (post 50 Shades)are dealing with psychotic, possessive, stalking 'Alpha' males who are often into BDSM and/or having a submissive female at their feet. I was so relieved to find Forty Shades of Pearl - a love story that has protagonists I could relate to and hold my attention because they are unusual. Alexandre is a flawed Alpha male but his power to seduce is more integral, more profound. And so alluring.
I highly recommend this novel!

This is a story about a sexy older American woman and a younger, dominant French man (you all know how much I LOVE FRENCH men!) This was one HOT book. It was not heavy in the kink department – but the sex? I LOVED the sex! Yummmy!
And the author's male hero's name is Alexander Chevalier! (Maybe a relation to André Chevalier? But only because he is GREAT in bed.)
A good story, the heroine is quite amusing in the way she looks at life. LOL moments. You won’t regret downloading and reading this book.

First off, I had seen this title and had held off thinking it was going to be a copy of 50 shades of grey. I was wrong! It was totally different, and I really enjoyed it.
Pearl is a woman in her forties who has a successful job, is divorced, and whos never felt satisfied in her sexual relationships. Until she meets Alexandre a 25-year-old French entrepreneur who she’s trying to get an interview with for her documentaries. She ends up running into him (unknowingly) in a coffee shop. They start dating, and he treats her like a woman should be treated! She worries about their age difference, but he assures her it doesn’t matter. Hes definitley mature for his age, and wise beyond his 25 years.
The sex scenes in this book are very hot and well done. He proves to her that she is capable of having orgasams (multiple even) when she thought it was impossible. The fireman scene is my favorite I think!
I love how descriptive the book is about the scenery and smells, especially when describing places they visit like France. I’ve never been, but I could just see and smell everything she was talking about. It made me feel like I was there with them, and I liked that a lot.
I was a little put off by the names she calls her vagina, like V-8, Venus, Pearlette, but that’s my only problem with it. The ending lets us know there will be more to their story, and I am looking forward to it. I cant wait to see where the next books take them!
