James and Bianca’s story draws to a close in the explosive conclusion to the Up In The Air Trilogy.
After a short but earnest courtship, Bianca can no longer deny her feelings for James, and though she’s tried her hardest, she can’t help but see that he cares deeply for her, as well. In a completely uncharacteristic move, she has put aside her misgivings and agreed to live with the enigmatic billionaire. Is her leap of faith the beginning of something wonderful, or is it too much, too fast?
As James and Bianca feel a growing need for each other that neither can deny, circumstances beyond their control intervene, trying to tear them apart. Amidst the ever mounting threat of a monster who wants Bianca dead, and the constant pitfalls of an indiscreet past that James can’t seem to escape, can these two passionate lovers manage to find their happily ever after?

BE STILL MY BEATING HEART!
Now you will feel no rain,
For each of you will be shelter to the other.
Now you will feel no cold,
For each of you will be warmth to the other.
Now there is no more loneliness for you.
Oh lordy, did I ever love this book! Grounded by R. K. Lilley was the PERFECT conclusion to what is now one of my favorite series ever. I have been branded! Yup, I have! And, R. K. Lilley, if you keep writing books like these, I am yours forever!
“You’ve changed so many things for me, and I never dreamed that could be such a wonderful feeling. I feel like I’ve been brought to life, like I’m a real person now, instead of a pretender.”
In this conclusion to the Up in the Air series, you get some heart-fluttering romance mixed in with a lot of kink James Cavendish style. HELL YES! Bianca and James finally begin to overcome the many road blocks that stand in the way of their forever. They grow stronger and their love grows deeper. Both these two characters will own your heart and this book will take your breath away. I literally experienced such a plethora of emotions while reading this final installment. I experienced happy tears, WTH moments, overwhelming sadness and shock and content sighs.
“Have I told you today how happy you make me? I can never go back from this, Bianca. It would break me to let you go. You know that, right.”
James is once again the dominant and possessive male that we have grown to love. His love for Bianca is so desperately blinding and he takes his controlling nature up a few notches in this book. James is having a hard time coming to grips with loving someone as much as he loves his Bianca. He is terrified of losing her and proves this over and over again with his domineering ways. I absolutely adored how powerful James’ emotions were for Bianca. They consumed him. He knew Bianca was the one upon his first encounter with her and he sets out to prove to her that he is the one for her as well.
“I see it too, James. I see the other half of my soul in you.”
Bianca continues to be more reserved and closed off when it comes to her feelings for James. She has learned not to trust anyone except for Stephan and is so afraid of her feelings for James. Seeing that Bianca is guarded and overwhelmed, James does back off and allows for her to take the time she needs to come to grips with her feelings. Yes, James can be Mr. Understanding! Gradually, we see Bianca begin to thaw as she fully accepts James’ love and admits that she is head over heels in love with him. Once the pair admit their feelings openly, R. K. Lilley provides us with some devastatingly beautiful romantic scenes.
“You won’t think I’m sweet in about ten minutes, when I tie you to my bed and fuck the sense out of you.”
I felt parts in my body clench. “You’re in such a romantic mood. Aren’t you going to call it making love today?”
“How about we call it lovingly fucking your brains out?”
I found Grounded to be a little heavier on the kink than the previous two books. Mr. Domineering is back in full force along with Mr. Controlling and Mr. Sadistic. He still inflicts his “punishments” leaving Bianca deliciously sore and completely sated. Who am I to complain? Bianca seems utterly content. James definitely pushes Bianca’s limits in this one while still capably understanding where to draw the line with her. I have never really understood the BDSM lifestyle and it is most definitely not for me; however, if someone like James approached me I would possibly consider it. Wink, wink!
Along with this epic love story between James and Bianca, R. K. Lilley also provides us with a storyline about true friendship. I jumped on the Stephan band-wagon in book and I have never come off. I love him! He is a true friend to Bianca and the only other person in the world who adores her as much as James. James and Stephan also become closer in this book as they continue to find much common ground when it comes to loving and caring for their girl. I also loved seeing Stephan and Javier’s relationship unfold and grow more serious. Both Stephan and Bianca are making room in their hearts for others while still being true to the love they have for one another. LOVE! R. K. Lilley also provides us with a cast of intriguing and wonderfully written secondary characters. I will be stalking this author to find out more about future books on Lana and Akira and Tristan and Danika!
“You are more precious to me than my own life, by far. It’s not even a question. I would do anything for you.”
Grounded is the beautiful conclusion to this lovely series and we finally see James and Bianca get their HEA. It’s a book filled with romance, possessiveness, steamy scenes, anguish and love. I was enthralled from the first page and am so sad to see this series come to an end. Thank you R. K. Lilley for an amazing series that will hold my heart for years to come.
“Say it, Bianca.”
“I’m yours, James.”
“Forever,” he added.
“Forever. Oh yes, I’m yours forever, James.”
I have to be honest here I literally...................
when I was offered an ARC of Grounded by the author. This was one of those books that I was dying for... After finishing Mile High I knew I had a wait but boy did I luck out.......................
In my opinion Grounded is the BEST book in the entire series. I'm totally in love with Mr. Beautiful!!! You could feel the love he had for Bianca while reading but don't worry our total ALPHA DOM Mr. Cavendish was still there. Bianca was AMAZING I loved her strength and how she didn't take crap from anyone! She totally ROCKED in my book! I love a strong female character in a book...
Grounded really shows you a different side of James as well as Bianca working on breaking down those walls and letting someone else in her heart besies Stephan. Oh Stephan I so adore him and Javier well those two are AWESOME together :)
I'm not going to give much away about Grounded but I think I can share some emotions with you. I will tell you there's is a part in this book where I BLUSHED I was totally going OMG OMG OMG and then I giggled. Bianca's reaction cracked me up. I was so pissed at James at one point I wanted to slap him but it made sense in the end when! I CRIED oh boy did I CRY there a part of this book that shook me to my core.....
So without telling you too much more but enough to whet your appetite, at least I hope so, here's how this book went for me.................
There was ............................................................
Oh and this part was...................................................
Of course I blushed, fiercely, kinda like this at this kinky as hell part that Oh My ......................................................
Oh yeah, I giggled too!!! Then I was lulled into pure bliss when things were like this..........
but alas that did not last cause I was doing this.....................
but by the end, well.................................................
This is a HUGE 5 ++++++++++++ star read for me! I always enjoy being dragged on that emotional roller coaster and this one had me up and down and sideways and backwards that by the end all I could do was sit there going... HELL YES I FREAKING LOVED IT!!!
Seriously had a MAJOR book hangover after readging Grounded. This is the final book in the Up in the Air series and R.K. freaking NAILED it!!! I strongly recommend that you grab this on 2/12/13 and canel all plans an spend some time with Mr. Gorgeous, Mr. Sadistic. MR. JAMES FREAKING CAVENDISH... you won't be sorry!!!!!!
Mr Cavendish has got it bad. No doubt about it. He is head over heels in love with Bianca, completely besotted, and it is a feeling completely alien to him. He’s never felt this way about anyone before and his possessive and protective instincts towards her are on turbo-charge and in overdrive. He can’t imagine his life without her, is terrified that something may happen to her and can scarcely function when she is is not breathing the same air as him. He’s lived his life as a total man-whore – sexual desire just another bodily function to be sated like hunger and and thirst. His many partners were just there to serve his needs, he never made an emotional connection to any of them. He’s completely blown away by his feelings for Bianca, his absolute desire to dominate her consumes him and his fear that her father may harm her causes him to hire a team of security for her.
Bianca’s heart is still sealed inside a block of ice. Her traumatic childhood has made it difficult for her to trust and she, too, is overwhelmed by her feelings for James. She’s also falling further and further in love but she’s guarded and is holding back and James understands this and gives her the time she needs and her heart slowly starts to thaw. He can’t tell her he loves her because it means so much to him and rejection would just about break him. The scene when they finally do admit their feelings to one another is quite simply beautiful. Bianca is still having nightmares and the patient tenderness James shows her as he calms her down is stunning. Mr Beautiful can be so gentle, caring and loving when he needs to be. Le sigh!
Mr Cavendish, sadistic dom extraordinaire, is also back in all his glory and, as much as he loves Bianca, he still desires to punish her for every slightest perceived misdemeanour's and they really do share some very delicious scenes on The Fourth Floor! Bianca is just a hot mess for him, always ready to melt into a submissive puddle at his feet and, let’s face it, who can blame her? He knows her limits and he always pushes her to them but he reads her well and she never once has to safeword out of any of their scenes.
But, this is about more than just the beautiful love story between the central characters. This is also a story about the deep and lasting bond between best friends Stephan and Bianca. Theirs is an incredibly special relationship and, until now, has always excluded everyone else but now they both need to make room in their hearts for someone else as Stephan becomes closer to Javier and Bianca and James move closer to committing to one another. Stephan has saved Bianca before during their awful childhood and he would still die for her.
So, this is deeply romantic as Bianca and James overcome many hurdles and obstacles in this one all the while moving steadily closer to the devastating and dramatic conclusion that will have your heart pounding and take your breath away. It’s a real shocker!
There are peripheral characters too that I hope will have their stories told as they positively intrigue me – Lana and Akira, Tristan and Danika.
If you’ve loved In Flight and Mile High and are fully invested in James and Bianca finding their Happy Ever After, then you are going to absolutely adore this as you smile, laugh, despair and enjoy every second of their story. The Mr Chapter titles are back and here’s a few to whet your appetite – Mr Scandalous, Mr Uncivilized, Mr Manipulative and Mr Porn Star to mention just a few.
James & Bianca - it's been such a wild ride, I've enjoyed every second and I sure am going to miss you.

5 Breathtaking Beautiful Stars
Although I waited for this book with great anticipation, I did not think it would be possible for Ms. Lilley to top In Flight or Mile High... but I was wrong. As much as I loved the first two, Grounded was able to surpass them..
James Cavendish was at his best in this one.. His Dom to Bianca's Sub was so much more intense as their realationship solidified itself over and over again. James's ability to give Bianca exactly what she needed when she needed through both pain and pleasure...
Bianca grew to truely understand and believe in his love for her and trust it..
“Why do you love me?" His eyes got so soft, changed in an instant from confused and into that impossibly tender look that got me every time. “You want me to break it down for you?” he asked succinctly. I nodded. He traced a finger across my brow. “I can do that. I’d enjoy that actually. You’re my favorite subject, Love. I’ll start with your eyes. I fell in love with those first. One look was like a punch to the gut. You have these ageless eyes on such a young face. I just knew that you had seen bad things, lived bad things, and from the start, I knew that you could understand pain. Understand loneliness and despair. Understand feeling hopeless and helpless and alone. I fell in love with your eyes first because I looked into their depths and saw the other half of my soul.”
Bianca's best friend Stephan is still there for her and he and James continued to form a very tight relationship since they both cared so much for Bianca.. Javier, Stephans boyfriend, seemed to complete the family...and we get a special look 5 years down the road at how much more their family completed itself.
There was plenty of suspense in this one with Bianca's father still out there and when he finally shows back up.. well , those were some pretty intense moments which only further sealed James and Bianca's relationship.
I truely loved this story and I'm sad to see it end.. Knowing that R.K.L is working on Lana's story does give me some comfort and hopefully she will give us a glimpse of Bianca and James every now in then in Lana's story and in future books. I wouldnt mind a story of where they are in later years.. I think they will always be intersting and will always hold a special place in my favorite book couples..
Actual rating: 2.5 stars
I didn't want to review this book directly after finishing it because I was extremely frustrated. I did not expect this. I wanted to think, you know, "objectively". But as you can see, the rating is still 2 stars. I understand that sequels usually have a higher rating than the first books in any series, those who didn't like it are most likely to drop it but 4.29 stars are way too much for this book and for over 50 000 ratings. It's one of the times when I feel like I've read a different book from everybody else.
Bianca is living now with James. They didn't catch her father yet. Well, all we want from this book is a closure for these 2 things. And we did have one, after 378 pages. You see, the first 2/3 of this book was boring, tedious, slow, with a non-existent plot. Too much talking while nothing is actually happening. I do not care about any of the secondary characters, sadly (Stephan is an exception). It's either because they aren't interesting enough or because we didn't know anything major about them before this book and since there were so many of them, I felt disconnected.
I always think twice before reading Romance trilogies/series about the same characters not because I think it doesn't need 3 books to finish a love story but because I KNOW IT. I'm sure of it. Bianca and Mr. Cavendish story could have been great with 2 books only. I think the author tried to fill the lack of plot in Grounded by secondary characters. We had so many and all wanted to do was to finish this book. Yes, I skipped paragraphes lines. Don't get me wrong, I still love James a looooooooooottt and Bianca but this book had too many fillers. For example, now our James was trying to pair every two persons in this book (was happy for Lina, though). Spare me please, I hate it when the author does that... We also had Bianca overthinking of her relationship with James, I understand that she had to overcome her past problems but it dragged for too long. We already had two books about her insecurities. I'm not blaming her, everyone has his own but after 3 books of the same drama you have to stop and say: enough already.
One of the other things that I found vexatious was Bianca's recklessness. When your boyfriend is always worried sick about you, he hires bodyguards just to make sure you're safe all time, what do you do? You meet your brother from another mother, the son of your psycho father without even taking your phone and needless to say, bodyguards (saw this part coming but not leaving her phone behind). That was idiotic.
The good stuff happened in the last 1/3 of the book. They traveled to Japan (not a spoiler, they said they would in the beginning), that earned them 0.75 star since like Bianca, the number 1 city to visit is Tokyo. I enjoyed that part of the book. I also like things that happened before the epilogue, another 0.75 star. As you can see, this book was a huge disappointment even if I wasn't waiting for something mind-blowing because I love Bianca and James and even after finishing this book, I still care about them. That's something. Still, I was satisfied with the ending. They deserved each other.
I won't be reading the book from James pov, I hate those books. They feel like a cheap way from authors to earn more money if a series was loved. Up in Air, will probably be the only romance trilogy I'll finish for a long while. I have started others that I disliked, forgot they exist so yeah, won't be reading any until I'm out of this anti-romance thing (which will last for a long time). I have not given up on standalone romance from time to time yet (keyword yet).
Besides some numerous eye rolling, exasperating scenes, if you loved Bianca and Mr. Cavendish's story, I would still recommend reading this book, it has all the hot scenes, James perfections, and the usual elements between the couple, yet it might be boring at some points. However, if you did not, don't bother, I'm sorry to say it's not worth it. This book didn't hold any surprises for me.
